Messian Dread here says that Christafari says that one does not have to stop smoking weed before accepting Christ as savior. Well, I don't debate this. I believe one could be stoned and/or drunk and accept Jesus as Savior. But I believe after accepting Christ as Savior...sooner or later Christ should be the only high one needs. If someone already accepted Christ as savior and Christ comes and lives in one's heart...then why would one still need to smoke weed or get drunk to feel close to Jah? Is not the fact the Jesus lives in your heart supose to be enough to make you feel close to Jah? I would ask: "What do you define as be "Sober minded at all times"? Do you think that this statement saying one should be, "Sober at all times" ONLY refers to being drunk but not stoned?

As I stated on another post, I am against smoking, not just because it's bad for you, but also because it is illegal (at least in the U.S.). It is written that we are to obey those who GOD has put over us.

Other than that, the value of anything can be detemined by how/if it brings you closer to GOD, or if it just a selfish act that we choose to justify.

More importantly though, we should remember to let the love that JESUS came to teach us shine through in all that we say and do. Our relationship with HIM, and with eachother is more important than our opinions on the way we worship HIM (as long as we stay to the scriptures). We should have the capacity to love one another, even though we disagree with eachothers actions.

Greetings, I have read this forum thread with interest. Please help me understand Romans 13 and my duty under bad laws:

Romans 13
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

On the surface, this would appear to condemn Ganja use in the United States by Christians. But what happens when the "higher powers" (government) uses lies and deciet and wholey un-holy practices in efforts to keep arguably "bad laws" from being overturned? Stuff like forfeiture of assets, taking children away from parents who smoke, prosecuting the sick and dying who use it, trying to overturn state laws, etc etc?

In the U.S., many Christains acknowledge that the Federal government lied to get cannabis outlawed in the 1930s and continues to "exaggerate" (read: lie) about the dangers. So what kind of a moral authority does thiis rely on, especially in a country where the governmental authority is supposed to be of the people, for the people and by the people?

Granted, they are not asking Christians to renounce their faith, which would be grounds for complete disobedience of the law. But they *are* asking Christians to support a massive lie that marijuana use is highly addictive (on a par with herion), has no medicinal value (in spite of its own studies to the countrary) and continues to be a grave threat warrenting imprisonment and asset seizure. How can any Christian in good conscious support the continued War on Drugs? Don't the lies invalidate the moral authority that Romans 13 calls us to subject ourselves to?

Rastafan
--
"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S., and most are Negroes,
Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing,
result from marijuana use. This marijuana can cause white women to seek sexual
relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others... The primary reason to
outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."

---Excerpt from the testimony of Harry J. Anslinger, director at the Federal
Bureau of Narcotics, before the U.S. Senate in 1937.

Ises I, Rastafan, agreed to the fulness. Added to that, Romans 13 doesn't speak at all about the government of babylon.
The living bible translated DEACON with POLICEMAN so you know who translated these scrips in the statish mentality.
The Bible does not tell us to be good fascists and do what we are told et cetera.
