Hi.
Thanks for the link. I checked out the informations on that page and they gave a bit of a glimpse of what Bob Marley believed during the last time of his life. But I just wonder if there is more info available on the web on this matter. Cause I think it would be great for many reggae fans to read the truth about the (my opinion) greates reggae musicians' faith in Yeshua/Jesus. BobMarley.com gives a lot of info about his life but as far as I could see they did not mention his supposed conversion. Probably because the makers of the page do not approve of this step Bob took.
I myself only know about Bob's (supposed) conversion from the Christafri's FAQ and the link mentioned above.
May God's peace be upon you all.

Marley may have become a member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church but, I and I do not think that he denied Selassie. If I am not mistaken Selassie was a member of the same Church too, so Marley just follow him Father - sight ?
Marley himself said "I want to be were my Father is and that is in Ithiopia/Africa."(not word for word) - seen ?
Churches do not make people, you are what you are....like Marley would say "You can change from Babylon to Rasta but you cyaan't change from Rasta into anything" or "I and I a Rasta since creation but, it is not how long one has been a Rasta, it is how long it take you to grow up cause what is is what is from the beginning it can never change."

Hi Prophet.
As far as i know it would not have been possible to be baptised and become a member in the EOC and still hold to the belief that Selassie is God. The EOC sent a guy called bishop Yeshehaq to Jamaica to tell the Rastas that Selassie is NOT God and Selassie also said that he is NOT God.
Churches cannot but GOD can change people. He changed me and many other people as well.
My question rather is: Is there any further internet material on the last times of Bob Marley's life that would indicate that Bob denied Selassie is God and that Bob became a Christian ? (in the biblical sense, not whatever else one may understand under this term including all the negative connotations around the world, but that is a different topic...)
For me to further discuss this topic (Bob' conversion etc.) would end up in speculation because I really don't know more about it than what they write on this christafari homepage.
Blessings

Show me where Selassie say that He is not God.
"Know that I am He" were His words unto the Rasta brethren as He landed in Jamaica. So me no see where you get that from.

Further more, even I could become a member of this Church and still hold my beliefs. They don't know what I am thinking. Or are they mind readers ?

First of all, Marley was a Twelve Tribesman before the time of his conversion to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. And it seems that most, if not all, Twelve Tribesmen do not believe Selassie is Jah. So it is legitimate to question whether Bob Marley even believed that before his Ethiopian Orthodox conversion.

Second, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church would not baptize and chrismate a new member who did not publically profess the Christian faith symbolized in the Nicene Creed or who still professed Selassie is divine. In fact, because of his faith history, Marley was probably required to publically renounce (i.e. in the presence of witnesses) any beliefs that Selassie was more than a devout and holy Christian emperor. The EOC, like all traditional Christian churches (Eastern Orthodox, Catholic, etc.) is extremely strict about the faith professions of catechumens.

And finally, Bob Marley remained a member of the EOC in good standing until his death, which means he did not ever publically renounce the Christian faith of the EOC for the rest of his life. The EOC would not provide funeral rites for someone who had publically renounced the Christian faith.

So either Bob Marley told the truth when he converted and remained a Christian until the end of his life, or Bob Marley lied and hypocritically remained a non-Christian Rasta during and after his baptism.

Because I believe that Bob Marley was too honest and had too much integrity to falsely portray himself as a Christian, I believe that he was a true Christian from his baptism to his death.
