"the number of those who are in living contact with the sphere of the Everlasting Gospel will increase. In this way many a man may meet the Christ, independently of traditional teaching. Perhaps at first he wil lnot call the being whose influence and presence he experiences by the name of Christ. He may imagine himself to be an opponent of Christianity, because he knows traditional Christianity only in distorted form.

This is a quote from a German theologian, Bock. This quote was taken from the liner notes of Yabby You's album, Jesus Dread. The writer posits that Yabby, the first Jesus Dread, came to faith in the Messiah apart from Xianity. This is powerful reasoning that was recognized by a Xian pastor.

If I am not mistaken, Yabby was technical adviser for a Zema album that is for sale on this site. I like Zema's stuff. She's got a good vibe.

People interested in the relationship between RasTa and Xianity should consider some of the reasonings found within Yabby's songs. He has put out some powerful music.

You two are really getting away from the point of this thread which I think needs to be discussed. What exactly is the value of non traditional faith in Christ.

I believe that the fruit will tell the story! We have no need to judge such things. They judge themselves. If the faith is Biblical then it will bear the correct fruits, but if it tries to ADD to or TAKE away from the Word of God then it will fail snf just fall into the heap of other cults that have tried to come up some other way than the True Gate.

The Bible which is the Word of God and Christ which John tells us is the Word made flesh, is the foundation, not the Church. Hence non traditional meetings, like the Gathering in Trinidad. I believe Messian Dread fellowships in a similar way... The solidness of the faith will be improved with structure, but I am not refering to a building.

You can take the Name Christian out of this walk, but if you take out the True Christ then you have gone over the edge. There we get into this thing of being ashamed of Christ. Imagine telling a girl on a date, "I really love you but I think that your family is a bunch of degenerate freaks." Do you think that there are going to be second and third dates? That example is to show that if you claim Christ, then the Word says that you will love His people. All people as a matter of fact and if they attend some Church with ideas a bit differant than yours you are still to love them... Again these are just fruits.

Greetings all...
Aaron Judah, I think Bock could definitely be right but two important words I will focus on right now are "at first". AT FIRST someone may suppose themselves to be an opponent of Christianity when it is really the false version which they oppose. They may oppose lies, hypocrisy, prejudice and the like which may be covered by the guise of "Christianity", but in reality are Anti-Christ in origin. These qualities are of Satan- not Yeshua (Jesus). BUT- at some point man must confess with their mouths and believe in their hearts in Jesus Christ. Otherwise we might as well go along with the universalists who believe that because Yahweh is a loving God and Christ died for all, that ALL will be saved. Not so according to scripture. There must be a heart that realizes a need for repentance, there must be a receiver of the gift of salvation, there must be the realization of the Father's merciful provision for the sin-sick soul.

Yabby You's faith walk is intriguing to me. I concur with what Bill said in that the true measure of one's Christian faith is in the fruits that are produced. I read quotes and listen to songs of his which undoubtedly proclaim Christ as the Redeemer and the One whom we must go through to worship the Father. The things which puzzle me a bit are songs (such as "Zion Gate") which embrace Marcus Garvey's teachings of repatriation back to Africa. My feeling on repatriation is that ALL who have recieved JAH Son will be going home to be with Him one day- not just blacks and not to Africa. In Christ's millenial reign and in the Kingdom that follows, all who have been redeemed will enjoy the incredible blessings of eternal life in His glory.

I don't know why Yabby distances himself from other believers in Christ- at least that we know of amongst the reggae massive. Have others tried reaching out to him? I don't know. Zema would be a good person to ask. Speaking of which, her Christian view is also non-traditional as she seems to embrace a more Messianic Jew perspective. Something also haven't understood as why Yabby would choose to produce and collaborate with with someone (Michael Prophet) who has publicly said that he doesn't believe that Jesus is King of Kings, Lord of Lords and Messiah but someone who he simply respects as a man who is "strong". Rather, Prophet claims allegiance to Selassie. I will look for and post the quote if you're interested. I think we SHOULD befriend people who may not know the truth in hopes that they one day will, BUT not contribute to their works which are contrary. I say we must draw the line. Help him with some carpentry, lend some money, give some food, etc- YES. So I'm sure what to make of Yabby along these lines as it seems he has made it a point to align himself more with non-believers. Again- we must reach out to and love non-believers and I hope that's what Yabby is doing and in the process leading them to Christ.

As Yabby in sings one of his songs, echoing the words of the Saviour- "I come not to call the righteous, I come to call sinners to repentance.
blessings in Yeshua...
Mike
