And that is part of why the huge size of this issue and circular reasonings baffles me. If they are Mark's views, is he then required to bow to anyone elses view of things? I guess that is what has really bothered me the most about this discussion. Many want to force some one else to alter their own website to make it more to the liking of some one else. That to me is Political Correctness, censorship.

That is why I asked so many times for Messian Dread to come up with a better definition. Not to try to make him do the work for Mark but because I was/am really interested in what the answer would be. The entire purpose is to open discussion, not shut it down.

As far as Arronjudah proposal to shut down this section of the site......

I would think that a person that holds the minority view would appreciate the platform to educate people of the opposing view. I know that I have learned alot from people such as your self, and many of the others. Many of the things that you have in contention with the FAQ could be discussed here. You have the opportunity to allow the ignorant the chance to understand Rasta ideas. This place HAS been misused, for sure. I hope that the worst of the offenders or Trolls as Messian Dread calls them have left for other places.

The Idea of the Rasta, Ganja Reasoning section is to open discussion, not strife. It is to provide a channel for teachings, but not pontificating. Critique, but not attack. If we were to shut this place down where would a person whose only understanding of Rasta coming from music, get your side of things?

"The ignorant." That sounds bad. Did I say that somewhere? Hope not.

Anyway, this is my dilema. I don't know how this issue is to be resolved. This thread/discussion peaked my interest because I am currently reading a Frantz Fanon book (Black Skin, White Masks) and I see a lot of parallels. Two groups, seeking to liberate themselves from prejudices and view each other as people, need to free themselves from themselves in certain respects.

1. How can I respect Xians if I do not respect myself. If I don't know my beliefs and understand them, I cannot appreciate and understand Xian culture. If I harbor prejudice toward Xianity, how can I ever view them accurately.
2. How can Xians dialogue with RasTafari unless they are liberated from their preconceptions, etc.

On this site, where it is proposed that we reason together, there is inaccurate information about one of the groups that are invited to dialogue. Xians are recommending that this misinformation be ignored and we just talk as if it is not there.

You don't want to have a racial reconciliation meeting in a confederate war memorial. Likewise, it is not right to expect RasTafari to show up and just talk in a 'room' that has incorrect information about them.

If you want to really dialogue and progress as equals, let's work together as a unified body and lobby to have the FAQ changed. In my posts, I validate the Xian as a true believer. If the courtesy is reciprocated, we can move forward.

Let's work as a group and create an accurate FAQ and submit it as a body to Mr. Mohr/LOZ. That would be worthwhile. That would be a thread/goal that I would be interested in contributing to. Let's work as equals. If it is believed that we all are united under Messiah, let's move as a unit.

I believe that this is a legitimate challenge to us all and it should be taken as such.

I think that alot of what you propose is helpful and I am willing to work on this, but I would suggest that we not expect anything other than gaining of knowledge to be the goal. I say this because I cannot answer for the site, but my self only.

Let us lay some ground work by being as specific as possible. The reason is this.... Some Rastas smoke Ganja, some do not. Some believe in the Christ of the Bible, some totally reject him. Some Christians, belive in eternal security, some do not. Some belive in a Rapture, some do not. Do you see what I mean? I think that has been part of the problem. Here is another example... when a person says that Christians worship a false god that pertains to Babylon, how is that to be swallowed? Are all people who claim Christ doing so? By no means. So why would some one want to discredit themselves by saying so?

I will begin by saying that I think that there is a better term for the kind of people being refered to by those statements as they can not be Chrisitans, other wise they would be following Christ. The word would be Churchians. It is the culture of Church that they are a part of rather than the Kingdom of Christ.

This just perpetuates and further dilutes what many are trying to explain and clarify. You have just made a broad generalized statement about Christianity that is just not true. It is what keeps the dialog between Christians and Rasta's in collision.... then complain when it is done abuout Rastas?

And to be totally honest I too would like to see it updated, to reflect Mark's CURRENT thinking, but alot of the problem here is the idea that the FAQ reflects every ones view here. My views diverge in some places. The FAQ is Mark's answers.

How can you maintain that you say Mark has a "current" thinking, opposed to what is written in the faq, and yet "there is no shift"?

This is a misrepresentation of my point. My point was that neither Rastas nor Christians are fully represented in the FAQ. The FAQ doesn't present my Christian beliefs any better than your Rasta ones. We are both getting "shafted" by the FAQ.

But neither you nor I can change this if Mohr will not, because it's a FAQ about his beliefs and only he controls it. So if he will not change it, though people ask, the only thing you and I can do is move on with our lives and discuss our own beliefs between ourselves. I promise that I will never assume that the FAQ represents you if you will not assume that the FAQ represents me. I think this is a good way to continue our dialogues even if Mohr will not change.

No one in this forum, to my knowledge, has claimed that the FAQ knows or represents your beliefs better than you do. I believe you when you say the FAQ is inaccurate. I don't take its word over your own. If our willingness to hear you out and try to understand you when you explain your beliefs --whether we agree or disagree about their truth-- is not good enough, I can't help you, because I can't change the FAQ myself. It isn't my website, it's Mohr's.

Jetze, you are totaly correct that it is an assumption on my part in that there may be places where Mark's view has changed a bit. I don't know this for a fact, but I have based that on certain clues. I am not trying to shift any thing.

We all agree that there are misconceptions on both side of the argument. If we all agree on this point, why don't we all get together and, at least, delineate our points of essential agreement. Whenever there are points of contention, we should express them, but I would be interested in seeing if it is possible for a group of people to come and meet each other in the middle. The middle, in this case, would be the Messiah. Apart from culture disagreements, prejudices, etc. It would require that we surrender certain assumed superiorities and rights to be right, if you know what I mean. Essentially, we would have to admit that we have a common bond of the Messiah and that might be the only thing.

As I read this book, an excellent book, it becomes evident to me that this is an almost impossible goal. Everyone has an agenda and some people are not willing to set aside their personal goals.

I am proposing that we, as individuals, hammer out what is our common understanding of faith in the Messiah: find our commonalities, bring to light our false assumptions, condemn our prejudices, etc. and present them in an organized format. Perhaps, LOZ would find it interesting. Perhaps not. However, I think that it is a necessary step in order to advance past these elementary stages of discussion that this board has been stuck in.

I have searched as far back on this board as possible and have very little that should justify its existence. I would be willing to commit to making a really good thread that stops the generalizations and deals with RasTafari and Xians as people.
