Do You Care About These Things?

Yes of course I do. And that I think respresents some of the shift in Mark's thinking that I mentioned seeing in my perspective.

Jetze, my intention has not been to cause struggle and stress between us. Quite to the contrary. My desire for our conversation is to learn. Yoy have made much more impact than you may think. Ofcourse I don't agree with every area. But we are closer in views in some than you think. In my asking for your definition is so that I know it. I am truly interested in what you think and why you think it. It is not to be arrogant and obtrusive. I believe that you have the desire for people to find a relationship in Christ. If that is the case then we need to find ways to be allies instead of battling through every thing.

Jetze,

I just read the article that you wrote in 2002 about this topic called Born Again Rasta. Do your current views still show up in this 2 year old article? If so I am hopeful, for the future.

Again I agree with Aaron.

Yes, the Born Again Rasta Itation still represents my view.

It's easy to see how I approach and see Rastafari, and also my own position in this all. But it's not so important what MY view is.

You seem to say that you observe a shift in Mark Mohr's philosophical approach, yet you also establish "there is no shift".

What you said to me there was that there is no shift, there is no change. Yes some things, like a Ras in the LOZ staff, are in complete contradiction with the doctrines as laid out in the lozfaq.

The lozfaq has been quoted to me to proof to me that I am a false teacher. The lozfaq is used as basis for the reasaoning in many christafarians who are all so zealous to talk about a Rastafari they do not understand let go overstand.

There is no need in the minds of loz to update the faq. And that says a lot. Shift, no shift, whatever. People read the faq and they write to loz and they receive letters that the faq represents the faith views on loz. You have seen proof of that in this thread.

Now this is all very serious and loz doesn't care.

Take a look at the people who voted in my poll. Most people do not see that loz is interesting in updating their faq. Most people (including me) voted for the third option: loz has the benefit of the doubt.

I'm really going through now in publishing this all on my website, I have been waiting too long. Maybe the publishing of that article will even cause loz to realize the neccestity for an update. Given the fact that LOZ is very very interested in public images this could very well be so.

There are TWO DIFFERANT shifts that we are talking about. One is the shift in thinking that I believe that Mark HAS made. The other is the approach to this topic that you say that I had that I rejected. Go back and read the places where the word was used by me in context and you will see that.

MD: If someone has quoted LOZ faq as some kind of an authority, I think it's that persons own ignorance to understand that a faq of a christian-reggae-band probably is not the best source for the right information about RasTafari. Though I myself have learned a lot about RasTafari from this site, but thru this forum and links posted in here, not really from the faq.

In my opinion the faq doesn't have to have a wide study of the RasTafari, but if it has some information about RasTafari then it should be correct. Even if there's not a wide information of RasTafari I think that the little one there should be the facts about different kind of RasTa-houses and the different kind of views of RasTafari. But this is all Mark Mohrs cup of tea and he chooses the way to take it the best way he sees. God bless his works.

Let's knock out a definition as a group.

If "Rastafari" is the first term being defined, the Rastas among us had better start the definition. It is only just to allow them to express their own beliefs. Christians could only assist this part of the project by asking questions or for clarifications about misconceptions, etc.

I've seen pictures of [Ras B], also. He has dreadlocks and calls himself Ras B. In my mind that is a RasTafari.

No everyone who locks is a Rasta. Many people wear locks for many different reasons. For some it is simply a fashion, for some it is "going natural," for others it is a proud affirmation of their heritage in a racist world that says "black is ugly or worthless," etc. I'm not a Rasta and I love locks. It isn't just some Rasta thing.
